About John Hanou
My photography involves paths of various themes: a gloomier, occasionally frightening realm of hidden dreams and past remembrances, sentimental playgrounds of childhood memories and a desire to explore the various spiritual offerings people have for their loved ones.
Initially working with 35 mm, then large format black and white photography, the development of the digital process has allowed my vision to grow exponentially, both in color and B&W. My computer is my new darkroom: the use of Photoshop, Lightroom and other software has allowed me to reconnect and share my vision of the world.
I pare my work with foundations of ambiguous apparitions and convey a vision the viewer can bond with on many levels.
I am an independent photographic artist. My energetic craving for photography began in 1971 after my father passed away. I try to capture the world as we know it, and offer it in a manner that we have not thought of.
