For Christmas 2007, I took my two oldest daughters to Paris, France, Bruges Belgium and Amsterdam, Holland, Netherlands. One of our favorite stops was Notre Dame de Paris and the tour to the top to see the wonderful chimeras and gargoyles. Presented here are my favorites. As far as I can tell only one of the statues is named. "Le Stryge" is a pensive, horned little fellow, perched atop the left-hand buttress of the north tower of Notre Dame. Of Victorian vintage, he is just a statue known as a chimera - not a gargoyle. Gargoyles spout run-off water.
